Sagan wins a Paris-Roubaix marred by tragedy
Peter Sagan justified his status as a pre-race favourite with a superb win at the 116th Paris-Roubaix. The Slovakian outsprinted a valiant Silvan Dillier ( AG2R La Mondiale) in the Roubaix velodrome. Third spot went Niki Terpstra, 57" back.
The day was marred by the death of 23 year old Belgian Michael Goolaerts who crashed 109km into the race. He was airlifted to hospital in Lille after recevijvg CPR following a cardiac arrest but sadly died at 21.40 BST. The young man's death sent shockwaves throught the cycling world with numerous riders and teams paying their respects.
