Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey (2.UWT)

Diego Ulissi holds on to take overall win

Diego Ulissi (UAE Emirates) has won the six-stage 2017 Presidential Tour of Turkey which finished in Istanbul on Sunday. The Italian secured top spot with a margin of 12 seconds over Dane Jesper Hansen (Astana) with compatriot Fausto Masnada (Androni - Sidermec - Bottecchia) in third at 24".

The first half of the race was dominated by Irishman Sam Bennett (BORA-Nansgrohe) who took the first three stages before faltering on the only climbing stage, won by Ulissi who took over the race lead. Bennet was on course to retaiin the green points jersey but a crash at 2km to go on the final stage saw it slip away to stage winner Edward Theuns.
