Team Tibco heads to Nature Valley Grand Prix
The Team TIBCO returns to Minnesota this week for five days of fierce racing at the Nature Valley Grand Prix. The National Racing Calendar stage race starts tomorrow and lasts through Sunday June 16.

Team TIBCO sends a squad of 8 riders to contest NVGP, including 2012 Olympians Shelley Olds, Jo Kiesanowski, and Rushlee Buchanan. World-class climber Claudia Haeusler also joins the squad, along with Amanda Miller, Sam Schneider and new team signings Kristabel Doebel-Hickok and Lauren Stephens.

Tomorrow, riders take to the streets of Downtown St. Paul for an evening criterium that features 5 turns per lap and bumpy brick road sections for a total of 28 laps. Racing kicks off at 6:15 p.m.

Stage Two will shake things out for the overall standings with the 93-mile Cannon Falls Road Race. The race will wind through scenic and often-windy Goodhue County before finishing on a circuit in Downtown Cannon Falls, just 35 miles from St. Paul. Riders will go through the closing circuit for 4 laps before finishing up the race. Severe weather forced the cancellation of this race last year, so riders will be doubly excited to take on the course this year.

Friday offers up another criterium for the sprinters with the Stage 3 Uptown Minneapolis Criterium at 6:15 p.m. The .88-kilometer L-shaped course features 6 tight turns and a wide straightaway to the finish. Located in the heart of the Uptown commercial district, the race will be well-attended as spectators get a chance to see the pro riders race for 30 laps.

The Menomonie Road Race is on tap for Saturday, featuring a 76-mile route with several climbs and rolling terrain. The course will start with a 64-mile rural loop that will include 3 Queen of the Mountain classification points. Riders will finish out the race with several laps on a flat, yet technical, 18-turn city circuit. The General Classification standings will likely be threatened with this hilly race.

Nature Valley’s grand finale is set for Sunday with the fan-favorite and notoriously challenging Stillwater Criterium. The course features a leg-burning hill climb up Chilkoot Hill every lap, followed by a technical descent sure to test riders’ handling skills. Racing starts at 11:45 a.m. for a total of 13 laps.
