Gilmore supports NSW Grand Prix and Amy Gillett Foundation
Rochelle Gilmore, Manager of the newly created Dream Team Pro Cycling (DTPC) issues statement in support of both the NSW Grand Prix and Amy Gillett Foundation's Share the Road Tour.

Dear Media, Sponsors & Supporters:

It is with great regret that I will not be racing the NSW Grand Prix on the 8th and 9th of December. I have been a great supporter of the event in previous years and really appreciate the effort and commitment given by Phil Bates in order to offer Women such a high profile international event in Australia.

I am currently partaking in the Amy Gillett Foundation's Share the Road Tour and have completed half of the 1043km journey from Adelaide to Melbourne.

With generous support from the public, I have personally raised over $7500 for the Amy Gillett Foundation in the lead-up to this event. These funds will assist the organisation to directly deliver cycling safety programs and campaigns to the community.

The Share the Road Tour also holds a special place in my heart as it serves as an opportunity to celebrate the life of Amy Gillett, a good friend of mine who was tragically killed by an out of control motorist whilst cycling with her Australian National team mates in Germany. I feel it is my duty to thank my supporters and continue to raise awareness of cyclists on our roads to hopefully prevent an event as tragic as Amy’s death happening in the future.

It is for these reasons why I have chosen to continue my journey with the Amy Gillett Foundation Share the Road Tour team until its due completion in Melbourne on Sunday the 9th of December.

I hope that my journey will continue to raise funds and assist the great work done by the Amy Gillett Foundation in promoting the Foundation’s mission of safe cycling in Australia.

Our vision is; zero bike related fatalities.

A metre matters.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Kind Regards,

Professional Cyclist
DTPC Honda Team Manager

*Despite being unable to race, I have provided three professional riders; Lauren Kitchen, Carlee Taylor and Myfanwy Galloway the opportunity to partake in the event. I believe they will contribute to the strength of the field and showcase the great international talent we have in women’s cycling in Australia.

Visit, NSW Grand Prix Cycling for more information about the event.
