Giorgia Bronzini to lead new British registered DTPC Honda Pro Cycling Team in 2013. Team led by Rochelle Gilmore.
Dream Team Professional Cycling (DTPC) is pleased to be able to unveil the British registered DTPC Honda Pro Cycling's roster for 2013.
Headlined by the Italian two-time World Road Race Champion Giorgia Bronzini, the DTPC Honda Pro Cycling team looks to focus on wins in the classics and sprint style races on the UCI calendar.
Racing alongside Bronzini will be Britain's strongest cycling talents in Olympic Champions Joanna Rowsell, Laura Trott and Danielle King in addition to recently crowned Junior World Individual Time Trial Champion Elinor Barker and youngster Amy Roberts. Each of these riders will be looking to make their breakthrough win in Europe as they transition into the elite women’s international road cycling scene.
“I’m excited to be joining the DTPC Honda Pro Cycling Team for the 2013 season and look forward to being a part of what I believe will be one of the most professional, and most successful teams next year. I’m looking forward to gaining more experience on the road with such a great team next year,” dual Olympic Champion Trott said.
Joining the British contingent will be Australian Lauren Kitchen who comes across from the former Dutch super team Rabobank, three time Japanese Road Race Champion Mayuko Hagiwara and Anna Bianca Schnitzmeier from Germany. The promising Emily Collins from New Zealand and Beatrice Bartelloni from Italy will also be making their debuts in a professional European outfit with the team in 2013.
Finally completing the team’s 12 rider roster will be none other than Commonwealth Games Champion Rochelle Gilmore. Her wealth of experience on the road and in her management role will be integral to contributing to the team's victories and in translating the team's exceptional raw talent in to results on the road. Bronzini is also excited about the prospect of racing for a new team and shows great confidence in Gilmore’s ability to manage a successful professional set up.
“I'm glad to be a part DTPC Honda Team because I believe in Rochelle Gilmore and her project. Although it is a new team, I am confident that we will take good satisfaction and I’m sure that between us girls there will be harmony,” triple World Champion Bronzini said.
DTPC Honda Pro Cycling is pleased to confirm Honda Motor Europe as a partner and Gilmore's Dream Team Professional Cycling will continue to hold the lead naming rights of the team while Team Owner Gilmore is presently in deep negotiations with a global company based in the United Kingdom.
The team is also privileged to have the personal backing of British cycling legend Bradley Wiggins CBE through the Wiggo Foundation. Wiggins' provision of generous support, assistance and encouragement will further enable the girls to fulfil their potential out on the road.
The women will be competing on 2013 Pinarello Dogma 65.1 racing bikes equipped with Campagnolo Super Record EPS, rolled out on Bora and Hyperon race wheels.
Thanks to the support of important and reputable sponsors, the team will have access to world class equipment through leading International companies including Vanomobil, Lazer, High5, Tacx, Fizik and Look.
Gilmore's reasons for starting a UCI women's professional team are based on her ambitions to provide female athletes with the environment and conditions that they deserve in order to get the best performances out of themselves.
"I believe that having partnerships with companies like Honda and the Wiggo Foundation, the team can function as a truly professional organisation, making the athletes a priority and providing them with what they need in order to reach their potential," Team Owner and Manager Gilmore said.
The team will debut in the Ladies Tour of Qatar to be held from the 30th of January to the 2nd of February 2013.
Further details of the team to be released in the coming weeks.
