Junior World Champion Lucy Garner joins Argos-Shimano
Team also adds Kirsten Wild, Marlen Jöhrend and Charlotte Becker to 2013 team.
The women's team of Argos-Shimano is almost complete for the 2013 season. Thus far seven of the ten riders are confirmed. The contracts of Amy Pieters, Kelly Markus and Esra Tromp have been extended. while Kirsten Wild (AA Drink-Leontien.nl), Charlotte Becker (Specialized-Lululemon), Junior World Champion Lucy Garner and Marlen Jöhrend (Abus-Nutrixxion) will join the team. Team Argos-Shimano is still in talks with a number of riders for the last three open spots, which has the same vision as the men's team and will also rely on the 1t4i principles.
With Charlotte Becker (Germany) and Lucy Garner (UK) the team has add two World Champions to it's roster. Becker was crowned World Champion Team Time Trial with Specialized-Lululemon, while Garner succesfully defended her junior title. Besides World Champion Garner is also the present Junior European Champion on the road and is also very succesful on the track.
For the young Briton her move to Argos-Shimano is like a dream come true. In the past she announced that she hoped to race for a Dutch team one day. "I would love to live and race in the Netherlands. Beautiful races and nice people. What more do you want?" says the girlfriend of Rabobank crosser and U23 World Champion Lars van der Haar.
With Kirsten Wild the team adds some sprinting legs to it's roster. On the road she scored victories in the Tour of Qatar, Energiewacht Tour, Rabobank Ster Zeeuwsche Eilanden, Lotto-Decca Tour and the Holland Ladies Tour and was active on the omnium at the 2012 London Olympics where she finished in sixth place.
